Moms & Pops before Wal-Marts & K-Marts Volume I

History of the Big Island from before white man came --- to the sugar and coffee plantation days. How immigrant families opened businesses throughout the island and with the increase in big shopping centers and chain stores we are losing most of the old Mom & Pop stores---we have a few that have kept up with the times and expanded---its in the book .

Book has 145 pages and over 400 ads from 1880's .....old stores and companies with lots of photos.

Memories of Hawaii - Big Island 

Kent Warshauer the "Riddle of the Relic".  MOHBI published one of the best history books about the Big Island of Hawaii. The book contains all of the articles written by free lance writer Kent Warshauer from 2001 to 2006 in the Hawaii Tribune Herald. Kent also know as the Sugar Mill Spy spent over 20 years doing research on the history of the Big Island of Hawaii. Kent passed away in August of 2006 and this is a tribute to him from Memories of Hawaii - Big Island. 

This is a soft cover version of the Relic Book.  Two volumes

Volume 1 has articles from 2001 - 2003. 

Volume 2 has articles from 2004 - 2006.

Hilo High School 100 years of Champions 1906 - 2006

Hilo High was the first public high school on the Big Island.  Along with high standards in education the Vikings were great in athletics and won many championships over the last 100 years. 

We put together a 233 page book listing all the champions in all sports won by Hilo High with photos and history of each sport.

The story of "Mokuola" as told by Kent Warshauer about the history of Coconut Island and the Keliipio Ohana.  

Also included are stories and photos from Pauline Lilinoe Keliipio-Young one of the last members of the Keliipio Ohana that lived on the island.

New book published by Memories of Hawaii Big Island in December 2011 about a visitor who came from San Francisco to the Big Island in 1880. 
He came to Hawaii to promote tourist and get the visitors to travel around the island rather than only to the Volcano. 
So he traveled around the island with a native guide on horseback meeting with natives, Government Officials, workers and all white people.
The names of all the people he met are in the book.  Lots of old photos.
